The Most Important Thing About Art

Relax and have fun. If you're on the dance floor thinking about your next move, you're not in the flow; you're in your head. The same is true for any other kind of art, including living life itself.

When we think too much, we invite worry. Suddenly we are faced with too many options and outcomes, and we feel weighed down and overwhelmed.

Monkey mind tenses up our spirit and clogs the creative channel we each have within us. The task in front of us becomes a burden instead of a bright outlet for our unique self-expression and joy.

On the other hand, when we add some bounce to our step by getting in touch with the sound, harmony, or rhythm that brought us to move in the first place, the artful moment we are in begins to really open up and take shape. Our spirit becomes full again and we realize we are doing something creative because we want to, not because we have to.

If you ever find yourself in that place of feeling that what you are doing is bringing you down, instead of livening you up, fix it by saying fuck it. Your time on this earth is valuable, and ought to be spent in a state of enjoyment and fulfillment. Get back into the flow, and stay there. It's where your energy is intended to be.
