All Art Needs a Space

As we move, groove, mix and mesh, clearing out the cobwebs and dust, we carve out a space to create. It can be a spare bedroom, a garage, the enclosed back porch, even a cheap storage unit from Home Depot. It just needs to be a space where you are free to make some noise and a solid mess.

We don't worry about caked fingers messing up the light switch or doorknob. A few drops of paint on the floor aren't going to ruin your day. Art wants and needs a dedicated section of your home or office, organized and predictably accessible,  like keys on a piano.

At the same time, an art space needs to be a little bit in your face. Kind of like a cookie in a glass jar, you want to nest your space for creativity in a way that tempts you. Lures.

And like meditation, with each creative session you spend in your art space, a portal starts to build. The pressure is off to keep everything neat, and suddenly it's ok to be the you that wants to be expressed. By returning repeatedly, you find yourself getting closer and closer to your true self. Your space starts to become a sanctuary where you connect with higher and higher realms of creativity.
